Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), is a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment, that focuses on helping individuals manage their emotions, improve their interpersonal relationships, and develop coping strategies for distressing situations. While full DBT programs are often costly and difficult to implement in the college setting, institutions can bring DBT skills to more students.

Focusing on the four modules of DBT – mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness – we explore the benefits of these valuable life skills and how they support students in their work, relationships, everyday life, and through the difficult transition to adulthood.

In this resource, you’ll discover:

  • The basics of DBT and who benefits from the program
  • Why college counseling centers don’t typically offer DBT
  • How Penn State University utilizes DBT skills on its campus
  • The many benefits of offering DBT skills to college students
  • How Mantra Health is expanding access to DBT skills-based programming
